`We would have won La Liga today if the referees controlling the Sevilla match had worked better,` Carlos commented on Real Madrid TV after the win over Granada in round 36 of La Liga yesterday.

The match against Sevilla that the former Brazilian defender mentioned was Real’s home match in round 35 on May 9. Real that day had the opportunity to rise to the top and gain self-determination in the championship race when the two opponents competed.

According to Carlos, the referee team of this match, led by Mr. Juan Martinez Munuera as the main referee, made mistakes that caused Real to lose against Atletico.

Zidane and Kroos protested against referee Munuera after the 2-2 draw with Sevilla on May 9.

In the 75th minute, when considering a penalty against Sevilla for Karim Benzema being blocked by goalkeeper Yaccine Bounou in the penalty area, Mr. Munuera determined that defender Eder Militao had touched the ball in the penalty area in the previous phase.

If they had been awarded a penalty and increased the score to 2-1, Real could have won and risen to the top of La Liga with 77 points, equal to Atletico but better in terms of head-to-head record.

After that Seville draw, coach Zidane reacted harshly to the referees’ decision.

After winning 4-1 against Granada on May 13, Real reclaimed second place from Barca.
