Nico Rosberg completed 53 laps with a time of 1 hour 32 minutes 41.997 seconds and was 25.022 seconds ahead of his rival, teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg’s stability (middle) and Hamilton’s effort to overcome difficulties (left) helped Mercedes take the top two positions at the Russian GP.

Like winning in Shanghai two weeks ago, Rosberg still finished first in Sochi leisurely.

Rosberg’s teammate Hamilton could only start from 10th position due to engine problems during Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session.

After the safety car appeared from laps two to five to facilitate clearing the track due to collisions in lap 1, Hamilton naturally climbed to fifth place despite previously having a mediocre start.

Veteran Raikkonen soon became defeated by Hamilton after failing to prevent his opponent’s daring overtake at Turn 5, round seven.

Using the same Mercedes engine, Bottas caused more discomfort for Hamilton.

Because the optimal tire strategy that the drivers used at Sochi was mostly one pit, the opportunity for Hamilton to cause a breakthrough with the strategy was almost gone.

There were times when it seemed that Hamilton could gradually close the vast gap with his teammate Rosberg.

But soon some unusual phenomena created a risk of instability in the engine, forcing Mercedes instructors to ask Hamilton to slow down to ensure safety.

However, finishing second in Sochi after only starting 10th is also an impressive achievement for Hamilton, helping him minimize the disadvantage in the long race with teammate Rosberg.

Meanwhile, Vettel continued to have bad luck from clashing with young Russian racer Kvyat when he was hit twice by the RB12 right in the first round.

At the previous race in China, the German star of the Ferrari team had to get angry with his junior when the two collided at the start.

Vettel’s teammate Raikkonen brought third place to the Italian racing team.

Behind, two Williams drivers finished fourth (Bottas) and fifth (Felipe Massa), respectively.

Ex-McLaren, Kevin Magnussen (playing for Renault) brought 6 valuable points to the French team with 7th place at Sochi.
