On the morning of September 15, a representative of the Ministry of Transport said that relevant ministries such as Health, National Defense and localities are still finalizing plans and procedures for testing and medical quarantine for passengers.

Previously, Vietnamese experts and workers returning from abroad needed a PCR test certificate within 72 hours, were quarantined at a military facility or at a business facility, and were closely monitored.

Currently, the ministries have not yet clarified the conditions for passengers to enter Vietnam, the cost of medical quarantine to notify relevant countries and people wishing to enter.

`The Ministry of Transport proposed a date to open the flight route on September 15 so that all departments can discuss and strive to follow such a roadmap. But up to now, the preparation work has not been completed,` the Ministry representative said.

Regarding the time to open the flight route, a representative of the Ministry of Transport said that after the Ministry of Health develops a quarantine plan and medical conditions, departments will continue to meet to discuss arising issues and agree on methods.

It is expected that the process and epidemic prevention plan for incoming passengers will be completed by the Ministry of Health and submitted to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on September 17.

The plane was parked at Tan Son Nhat airport in March when Covid-19 broke out.

At the Government meeting last weekend, the Prime Minister agreed on the policy of allowing the opening of regular international commercial flights.

Passengers on the flights are diplomats, civil servants, and Vietnamese citizens in the above countries and territories who need to return home;

According to the plan of the Ministry of Transport, commercial flights are expected to open to Guangzhou, Taiwan (China), Korea, and Japan.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines has opened ticket sales for its first international flights.

Bamboo Airways also announced the opening of the Hanoi – Taipei (Taiwan) route from September 29 with a frequency of one flight a week, departing from 1pm every Tuesday.
