Mr. Nanjundaswamy, who lives in Bengaluru, has undergone three surgeries to defeat colon cancer.

Having held the position of director when he was young, Nanjundaswamy does not have any health problems, except hearing impairment.

`The results of a sigmoidoscopy showed a squamous cell tumor in the colon. The sigmoid colon is the S-shaped part of the large intestine leading into the colon,` said Dr. Mohammad Bashiruddin Inamdar, a surgical oncologist.

Luckily, these are tumors that develop in the early stages and cannot yet spread.

The surgery took place on March 17, helping to remove three tumors, remove part of the colon, and create a path around the bladder.

Longevity studies show that staying engaged with hobbies, daily work, family and friends increases the likelihood of living longer in seniors.
