Thiem defeated Djokovic for the first time in six encounters.

The result means that both last year’s singles champions, Novak Djokovic and¬†Garbine Muguruza, have been eliminated.

This year, Djokovic only won one ATP 250 title in Doha, a performance that contrasts with what he showed in the early stages of last season when he captured two Grand Slam titles and 3/5 of the Masters 1000 tournament.

For Thiem, this is the second time he has reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros.

Djokovic saved the break three times in the third game of the first set but still could not prevent his opponent from breaking serve.

Thiem has a very good mentality after defeating Djokovic in the first set tie-break series.

Djokovic’s two double faults gave Thiem a chance to break in game eight and the Austrian did not miss.

The tie-break series was very dramatic, but Djokovic’s two consecutive backhand errors helped Thiem lead 6-4.

But what was more disappointing for Djokovic and his fans was the Serbian player’s easy defeat in the next two sets.

Djokovic continues to show psychological instability, which has dogged him for more than half a year.

Thiem then led 4-1, 5-2 and ended the second set with a score of 6-3.

Defeating a monument with 12 Grand Slam titles, an opponent he had never defeated before, Thiem boldly entered the second Grand Slam semi-final of his career, facing Roland Garros legend Rafael Nadal.
